Documentary photography is based on the photographic endeavor to create a visual document. The aim is to capture reality as a photographically impressive description of a situation and a document of the time. It is not uncommon for the photographer to try to tell a story that denounces grievances, to appeal to people not to lose sight of certain events or to issue warnings about undesirable (social or political) developments.
